�鶹��Ƶ of America’s 93rd Annual will offer several sessions on labor and human resource matters open to all Convention registrants.  The Convention will take place March 13-17, 2012, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Union Contractors Committee will meet on March 13 at 9:15 a.m.  The meeting will feature reports by Bill Wilson, president of Hawaiian Dredging, on successful efforts to jump-start construction in Hawaii and by Carey Peters, executive director of the Construction Labor Research Council, on recent collective bargaining settlements, union market share, and other employment data.  Tom Holsman, CEO of �鶹��Ƶ of California, will report on developments across union chapters and will help facilitate a roundtable discussion of experiences and views about collective bargaining, labor-management cooperation, project labor agreements, multiemployer pension issues, and other matters of current interest to union contractors.  The Open Shop Committee will meet later the same day, on March 13 at 2:00 p.m.  Jeff Robinson, president of PAS, Inc, will provide a report on open-shop craft compensation and other current employment data.  The meeting will also include an update on the various labor law developments relevant to open-shop contractors that have taken place over the past year and a roundtable discussion of the latest experiences and concerns of open shop contractors around the country. The Convention schedule also includes several professional development sessions for construction executives on human resource-related matters.  In “Strategic Leadership:  How Today's Decisions Will Impact Your Organization's Future” on March 13 at 1:30 p.m., Ron Magnus of FMI Corporation will provide an entertaining and interactive session that will help participants learn how to capitalize on strategic opportunities in order to avoid the pitfalls of leveraging opportunities in the marketplace.  On March 14 at 10:30 a.m., in the session “Implementing Diversity: Bringing People and Strategies Together to Create Action and Results,” Melanie DePaoli of Omicle will share various ways to successfully create a community of loyalty while dealing with the ever-changing dynamics of business such as new employees, new subs, or even the introduction of existing employees and subs to new expectations.  And, on March 15 at 10:00 a.m., Kelly Riggs, owner of Vmax Performance Group and a trusted go-to source for tips on maximizing employee engagement and operational leadership in the construction industry, will speak at a session called “Hard Choices in a Soft Economy:  4 Essential Leadership Skills You Can't Afford to Ignore.”  It will address the essential leadership skills that must be developed at all levels of an organization in order to create stability, unlock innovation, and successfully deal with the challenges facing the construction industry as companies find the need to “do more with less.” For more info on the Convention or to register, click .
